One of my favorite independent designer success stories Johnny Cupcakes is pulling through to my favorite local boutique the Niche Market in Charlotte NC tomorrow for his Suitcase Tour “Back to Basics 2010″
Most of us in Charlotte were first introduced to Johnny Cupcakes at Niche’s old Noda location before John decided to take the brand to his own exclusive retail locations and now have a chance to rub elbows and talk cake with the man behind the suitcase.
What inspires me most about John’s success is he dropped out of school to start his line and created a family run limited edition t-shirt brand with absolutely no start-up loans, education, investors, advertising or wholesale …. His concept is spot on and his art has created a new Cup Cake cannibal like culture frenzy that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
